Imagine, hypothetically, that the only reason Arte stopped trying to sell the team was because he realizes he can try to extend Ohtani in order to continue to hoard as much money as he possibly can while continuing to operate the team as usual (never going over the tax, never making any moves to improve the long term health of the organization).
And if he were unable to extend him, he’d decide to give it up and sell the team because there’s no more cash cow and attendance and viewership were to drop heavily.
Would that trade off be worth it for you?
Or is keeping Ohtani, possibly the greatest player to ever live, on the Angels more important to you than new ownership, and the possibilities that could bring?
