someone mentioned in the comments of the GA 10 RBI game that they had actually been at that game, and it got me wondering what the most awesome game was that y’all were actually in attendance for? (yeah, i definitely wanna hear from all you WS game 6 and/or 7 attendees.)
for me? i was at the AK game (ALCS game 5). had a buddy whose fam had incredible season tix at the time and we were right behind the twins’ dugout. when the twins took the lead in the middle innings i was talking to a fellow fan who seemed pretty nervous, he had actually been there at the ‘86 ALCS game 6 and was clearly, even after so many years, still traumatized by it. then AK hit the 3rd bomb and we scored 8 that inning iirc and the rest of the game was one big thunderstick-blasting party. it was amazing.
second place for me is probably when a buddy and i randomly got the cheapest tix possible for a random game against the royals and the angels scored 21 runs and jeff davanon of all people hit for the cycle.
biggest regrets? i definitely tried to get work off to go to the first home game after skaggs’ death and was unable to. still was a pretty epic memory – i remember holding back tears while watching at the workstation at my hospital between patients. also nearly skipped a night class for EMT cert years before that but didn’t at the last second, that was weave’s no-no. (lol i guess my no-hitter luck is bad. i’ll also never forgive shin-soo choo for getting a measly texas-leaguer off haren in what ended up being a CG 1-hitter.)
best angels game you’ve actually attended?
