Tailgating at the Big A

Tailgated on Saturday and had a blast, but perhaps somebody can tell me what time you are allowed to start? Online said the parking lot opened at 2.5 hours before game time. I got there at 3:45 and it was already loaded with tailgaters grilling, playing corn-hole etc. would love to get there earlier
