Trout & Rendon

comments

With the organization reaching a crossroad, I think it’s very interesting and important to discuss 27&6 in the context of the last 3 years and how vitally important they are going forward. It’s extremely interesting yet sad to recognize that they have been either injured or underperforming in the 3 years where Shohei was at his peak. Was it completely coincidence? Did they let their foot off the pedal when 17 was getting all of the attention or are they just washed (relatively speaking for Mike)?

In my opinion there has to be a massive wake up call for both, in terms of leadership both on and off the field with how they act and their on field performance. They are THE guys. It’s on them to be able to carry the burden with all the young guys around them.

There’s been a huge lack of accountability within the organization in general, but each person can only can control what’s in their hands and I really believe that if these two are heading that charge on the field that they can create that stability this team has needed for a decade.

I understand that some people don’t care about legacy and how they are viewed but I there’s a lot on the line in this window that the Angels are entering and if Trout and Rendon don’t want to be viewed as the former great players (Trout obviously to a bigger extent) who fell of and abided to the losing, then I hope we see a new level of commitment that is truly necessary if they want to have any type of competitive baseball in Anaheim.
