Hey, it’s Randy again here for another Reddit Mailbag for Ty Buttrey!

You read that correctly, It’s me again, with a call for questions when I interview Ty Buttrey, former Angel relief pitcher. If you don’t recall that name, here’s a quick refresher! Angels traded infielder Ian Kinsler to the Boston Red Sox for then 25-year old prospect pitcher, Ty Buttrey. He ended up pitching for the Halos between 2018-20 to the tune of an 8-11 record with a 4.30 ERA in 115 appearances while striking out 122 batters.

Suddenly, in Spring of 2021, he retired at the age of 28. Then, almost a year later, he un-retired, and spent all of 2022 in the Angels Minor League system, then elected to become a Free Agent in November. Since 2023 began, he signed a Minor League deal with the Astros, spending time in their system before being released in August. Then in October, he signed on with the Leones del Escogido of the Dominic Republic Professional Baseball League.

So I call on the Angels community once again to help aid me in the 45 or so minutes that I’ll have with him on an off day very soon. What questions do you have for Ty Buttrey? I will not consider any shade/inappropriate questions as Ty has been nice enough to give me, and in turn, you, his time to talk on my show.
