I’ve been trying to identify Perry’s guiding principles / rules of team building. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

• No clubhouse cancers. Everyone he’s brought in is pleasant+.
• Family matters. There is an opportunity in finding slumping guys who have loved ones in SoCal, acquiring them, and watching their performance improve because they are happy (Moniak, Moose, Webb, Devenski, hopefully Giolito).
• College >>> hs + minor league time.

Curious if anyone has other observations.

I think Perry is a fascinating character. He seems to be supremely confident in his own judgment and afraid of no one, least of all the national media. And he has gotten a lot of big wins.
