Shohei Ohtani, Starting Pitcher/Outfielder, Los Angeles Angels

This move has to happen for the Angels. It has to be a given that he is going to leave after the season is over and go compete elsewhere. Ohtani wants to win a championship, but that’s not going to happen with the Angels. Ship him to a contender now and get an absurd return. This type of trade would be seismic, sending shockwaves throughout the league. Whichever team ends up with Ohtani will be ecstatic, but is it worth it for what they will have to give up? Ohtani may even be a rental for this season. There are a lot of things to factor in for a trade of this magnitude. Nonetheless, I think we all want to see him traded out of Los Angeles.

Jordan Montgomery, Starting Pitcher, St. Louis Cardinals

Montgomery is 6-7 with a 3.23 ERA this season. He would most likely have more wins if he was on a better team. Speaking of a better team, Montgomery needs to be on one. The Cardinals just don’t have it this year. They have a stacked roster, but it hasn’t amounted to anything. 2023 has been a huge letdown for the Cardinals. They should try to be sellers at the deadline and get some young prospects in return. Numerous teams need a starter, and a left-handed starter is even more sought after.

Top Trade Destinations: Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, Return to New York Yankees

Eloy Jiménez, Outfielder, Chicago White Sox

Jiménez has been solid this year for the White Sox. He’s batting .277 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs in just 58 games. Jiménez does struggle with injuries, so teams may see that and look away. To me, acquiring him could be tremendous for making a postseason run. He hits lefty’s and righty’s about the same. He hits .283 vs. left-handed pitchers and .275 vs. right-handed pitchers. Teams won’t have to use him as a platoon. Stick him in the lineup every day, preferably at DH, and let him smash. He would be better at DH because of his injury concerns. The White Sox should look to trade him and gain some prospects in return.
