One specific West Coast franchise is reportedly thinking long and hard about making a big free-agent splash for players like Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery before the start of spring training this month.
With pitchers and catchers arriving at training facilities in Florida and Arizona in the coming days, there are few bigger stories than the fact that Scott Boras clients Blake Snell, Cody Bellinger, and Jordan Montgomery are still available on the MLB free agent market.

All three entered the offseason as some of the very best players available at pitcher and outfielder in this year’s free-agent class. Yet, here we are in February and none of them have signed a contract and don’t seem close to doing so. However, there is one organization that is seriously contemplating signing one of the Boras three soon.

On Wednesday, New York Post MLB insider Jon Heyman reported that “the Los Angeles Angels have been mulling whether to make a run at big-time free agents Snell, Montgomery or Cody Bellinger.”
The Angels were one of the biggest losers thus far this offseason as they lost superstar Shohei Ohtani to in-city rivals the Dodgers and did not make any notable additions to improve the rotation for 2024. Owner Arte Moreno has always been willing to spend big in free agency and one last splash for reigning NL Cy Young Blake Snell or Cody Bellinger could salvage what has been a disappointing offseason for the team.
