I was looking today at who’s still available, and here are the few I wouldn’t mind seeing the Angels sign
Marcus Stroman (angels have already had talks with him) – he had double digit wins last year and gets a lot of k’s, wouldn’t be a bad get.
Blake Snell (Angels are currently reported to be in talks with him) -walks are the big concern here, and we could get bit overpaying for a Cy Young winner who just had 1 good year, but could be worth the risk.
Mike Clevenger (haven’t heard anything about the Angels talking with him) – I really like this guy as a moderately priced front end starter for us.
Alex Wood (haven’t heard about talks) – A little injury prone, but maybe could get him at a good price and we all know Arte likes that.
Lucas Giolito (haven’t heard about talks) – Has a tendency to give up the long ball, but I think theres potential here if gotten at the right price.
The guys I actually can see Arte going after though sadly are more like:
Hyun-Jin Ryu – older vet he could get at a bargain price who might have some upside still left in him
Clayton Kershaw – I could see him overpaying for this vet to try and pull some dodger fans to come see him. Then we will watch him sit in the IL for months at a time during the season.
Corey Klubber – Another old vet with some good seasons under his belt who hasn’t been as sharp as of late that Arte could make a deal with.
Johnny Cueto – pretty much the same as the rest of the list above. Aged vet who he could get for under 10 million for the season most likely.
What do you all think?
