Ohtani deferred 97% of his contract so his new team can have as much financial flexibility as possible. We weren’t outbid, we were not chosen. Additionally, if the contract stands, the impact to their CBT is only ~$45 million a year. This is a massively team friendly deal to the point where it should be illegal. The Dodgers effectively got him for free, and have enough financial flexibility to sign Snell, Yamamoto, and up to 2 more major free agents.
This is evil empire bullshit. This completely drowns small market teams. What about every other team in the NL West? The national league?
Makes me want to step away from the game.
