It’s not the end of the world if Ohtani doesnt come back.
I hope he returns, but at this point it’s not looking good.

He’s turning 30 next season. He still has a couple of prime years left, but the back half of his contract is terrible. Paying a 35-40 year old player $55-$60 million a year isn’t worth it.

There is a good chance last season was the best season he will ever have. Most players peak around 28/29.

He has already had 2 Tommy John surgeries. High risk when it comes to his pitching career. Then you end up paying a DH big bucks.

Maybe it incentivizes Arte to finally sell now that his cash cow is gone.

Once Arte sells, we can spread that $500-$600 million around on some good pitching and player development for our young core.
