At some point we accept that we are no longer going to make the playoffs and start thinking about the future and getting better odds at a top pick in the draft. I have reached this point.
The angels have been stuck in this mediocre purgatory for as long as I can remember and it is time to rebuild.

I am rooting for Shohei to absolutely crush baseballs, break all the records, get MVP again and receive the greatest pay day of any player ever. He deserves it. I also, unfortunately, hope that it is for another team. We had our fun but we can’t keep paying 2-3 guys that are aging and roll out a AAA squad with them. I also don’t love that Shohei gets to do whatever he wants. He turned down an MRI?! Why? And why can’t the angels say, “no, we are lying you millions, we want to see what the hell is going on!” I love you Shohei. Thanks for the memories.

I am also rooting for all our young future core players to do well and continue to progress. Love the grittiness and competitiveness of all the guys coming up from the Trash Pandas. Whatever they are doing there, we need to fan that flame.

With all that said, I hope we lose. Like 9-10 games where shohei hits a grand slam and a cycle, O’Hoppe, Shanuel, Neto, Moniak and Adell all go 3-5, and we lose because our rental players all suck.

Of course, now that losing benefits the team we will win every series from here on out, go on some crazy win streak and miss the playoffs by 8 games. All while hurting our chances of getting a top pick. It is the angel way.
