Stats from FanGraphs, standardised value per 100 pitches

Addendum for Giolito’s stats at Chicago

There’s some decent off speed and breaking numbers here, but the most notable thing here for me is aside from Sho and Gio (pre-trade) everyone else has pretty established negative fastball weighting.

Went and checked out Fastball Stuff+ as well, not a good look either (Gio’s Stuff+ with Chicago was essentially the same at 83). Didn’t screenshot it but conversely Slider Stuff+ was very good across the board with Silseth being the lowest at 100 (and Anderson’s cutter at 103).

This is obviously a very shallow analysis but kinda supports a gut feeling I’ve had that our starters throwing generally below average fastballs means they’re not getting full value out of their secondary stuff? What do you guys think?
