I grew up in Whittier, right on the edge of both counties. Anaheim was just closer, we could get to the Big A in 15-20 min. I was 9 when Jim Abbott debuted for the Angels. I was fascinated by what he could do. The company my dad worked for had season tickets to both the Dodgers and Angels that employees could use. I wanted to see Abbott pitch, so my dad took us to one of his starts. I’ve been a fan ever since.
I was in the Air Force and stationed in Italy when they won it all. I remember waking up around 2am to watch the playoffs. I still remember being so fucking jealous that my dad’s company hooked up my brother up with tickets to game 5 of the ALCS. Luckily I had a cool boss that was also a huge baseball fan, so I got a lot of leeway during the WS to be a little late to work.
