Visit Seattle / Rachael Jones
As visitors and residents navigate the city during 2023 MLB All-Star Week, they will notice larger-than-life portraits gazing back at them from the guideway columns of the Seattle Center Monorail along Fifth Avenue—a walking art gallery connecting Seattle Center with the downtown core.
There are sixteen faces in all, a combination of national baseball stars and a diverse mix of Seattle sports fans, signifying the connection between baseball and the greater community. The creation of the art itself was also deeply rooted in community, as local muralist Brady Black developed a paint-by-number system and invited the community to take part in the project.
This is just one of the ways the Seattle community is shining as MLB 2023 All-Star Week turns the national spotlight on our Emerald City, allowing us to display our creative economy and giving community members young and old an opportunity to be a part of this special citywide moment. The murals are expected to remain in place through the month of July, so plan your walking tour accordingly! Can you find them all?
